Earlier this year, ICHNGO Forum sent a call for candidates to the Electoral Board, responsible for setting up and monitoring the election of new members to the Steering Committee. We the undersigned, Laurier Turgeon, Hanhee Hahm and Dag Feldborg, were elected as members of the Electoral Board after this first round of call for candidates. We represent NGOs from Western Europe and North America, and Asia and the Pacific, (electoral group I and IV).
Although we do have the required number of members to proceed with the organization of the elections, which is 3, we would like to have a larger and more representative number of members from the other electoral groups on the Electoral Board. We are therefore launching a second call for candidates from the following regions:
• Eastern Europe (group II)
• Latin America and the Caribbean (group III)
• Africa (group Va )
• Arab States (group Vb)
• International NGOs
If you wish to be a candidate, please send an email in English or French to dag.feldborg@handverksinstituttet.no, hanheeh@jbnu.ac.kr and laurier.turgeon@hst.ulaval.ca before September 7, 2018.
After 7th of September 2018, candidates will be put in contact with the Electoral Board for a possible appointment. To become more familiar with the work of the Electoral Board, please read the following excerpt drawn from the Rules and Procedures of ICH NGO Forum Steering Committee.
Election Board
“An Election Board composed, preferably of seven members, and in any case of a minimum of three members, one of each region, and one from an international NGO will make a call to all accredited NGOs for candidatures, prior to each Forum General meeting. The Forum General meeting will nominate members of the Election Board at the meeting prior to the elections. In the absence of this Election Board, a month and a half prior to the date of the Forum General meeting, the Steering Committee will make a call to all accredited NGOs for candidatures. Members of the Election Board cannot be candidates to the Committee. The Electoral board will make all possible efforts to ensure gender equality in his selection of candidatures.”

Appel à candidatures pour le Conseil des élections du Forum des ONGPCI
Plus tôt cette année, le Forum des ONG PCI a envoyé un appel à candidatures pour le Conseil des élections, responsable de la mise en oeuvre et du bon déroulement des élections des nouveaux membres au Comité de pilotage. Nous soussignés, Laurier Turgeon, Hanhee Hahm and Dag Feldborg, avons été élus au Conseil des élections à la suite de ce premier appel à candidatures. Nous représentons des ONG des régions de l’Europe de l’Ouest et de l’Amérique du Nord, et de l’Asie et du Pacifique (groups électoraux I et IV).
Même si nous possédons le nombre minimal de candidats requis (soit 3) pour organiser les élections, nous souhaitons avoir un nombre plus important et représentatif de candidats au Conseil des élections. Nous lançons donc un nouvel appel à candidatures pour les régions suivantes :
- Europe de l’Est (groupe II)
- Amérique latine et région de la Caraïbe (groupe III)
- Afrique (groupe Va )
- États arabes (groupe Vb)
- ONG internationaux

Conseil des élections
“Un Conseil des élections composé de préférence de sept membres, mais e
n tout état de cause d’un minimum de trois membres, un de chaque région et un d’une ONG internationale, nommé par la Réunion générale du Forum précédent les élections procédera à un appel à candidature auprès de l’ensemble des ONG accréditées avant chaque Réunion générale du Forum. En cas de défaut du Conseil des élections de procéder à cet appel au plus tard, un mois et demi avant la date des élections, le Comité alors y procédera. Les membres du Conseil des élections ne pourront pas être candidats aux élections pour le Comité. Le Conseil des élections fera tout son possible pour assurer une égalité des genres dans sa sélection des candidats.”
