WG for more balanced geographical representation of accredited NGOs: 19 december 2020

The working group aims to work on how to overcome the ongoing geographical imbalance in NGO representation in the ICH NGO Forum and the UNESCO 2003 Convention.

2. Examples and experiences of roles and actuality of NGOs in Asia, Ms. Janet Blake, Iran
3. Examples and experiences of roles and actuality of NGOs in South America, Mr. Jorge Gustavo Caicedo, Mexico
4. Examples and experiences of roles and actuality of NGOs in Africa, Ms. Maroussia Bouvery and Mr. Alain Muneean, Mauritius
5. Open discussion
6. Means of communication of the working group and the next online-meeting

In the three presentations speakers are asked to address the actuality of NGOs in the regions or countries they represent. What might be the reasons why only few NGOs seek for accreditation for the 2003 Convention? How are NGOs regarded, their role in the society understood and what are their challenges in participating in the work of the Convention?
