COM meeting in Jeju, the Intergovernmental Committee (IGC) opened a discussion to address the topic of the “inter alia” part of the advisory functions of the accredited NGOs to the Committee, with the view of enhancing the formal contribution of NGOs in the implementation of the Convention.
Carrying on, the ICH NGO Forum’s 2018 Symposium to the occasion of 13COM will shed light on the roles of accredited NGOs in implementing the 2003 Convention. Where are accredited NGOs operating under the Convention at now? And how might we do more?
The day will include presentations and discussions learning from NGO peers joint experiences and insights. We will take the opportunity of building on the background of the ICH NGO Forum and its diverse Working Groups since 2010, each of them contributing to the challenges and evolutions in local to global cooperation around the safeguarding of ICH.
The symposium will take place in the Plenary Room at the Swami Vivekananda International Convention Centre (Port Louis, Mauritius) on 25th November 9:00-14:30 (download agenda). French-English translation will be provided during the Symposium.
