Message from the Association of Belgian Brewers  /  vzw Belgische Brouwers  / Conseiller Brasseurs Belges asbl

We are still very honoured that UNESCO decided to include the rich beer culture in Belgium in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

First and foremost, making and appreciating beer is part of the living heritage of a range of communities throughout Belgium. It plays a role in daily life, as well as festive occasions for all the Belgians. It’s an enormous recognition also for the Belgian brewers who have dedicated themselves, often for generations, to deliver high quality beers. But beyond that, it is also a recognition for every single Belgian.

Belgian beer brings people together at home, with friends or family, in pubs and restaurants or at festivals…. There is a Belgian beer for every occasion and when it comes to Belgian beer, there’s more to it than just the liquid in the glass. You are able to taste and savour an entire culture.

We will continue to spread these key messages in Belgium and abroad. The ultimate proof of this is the opening of ‘Belgian Beer World’ in La Bourse (the former stock exchange building). It’s located in the historical city centre of Brussels. This protected heritage building is the venue for the world’s largest interactive experience centre on Belgian beer and its unique culture.

Cheers!
