In this dialogue, Dr. Ivan Henares, President of the ICOMOS International Cultural Tourism Committee (ICTC), presents and discusses the ICOMOS International Charter for Cultural Heritage Tourism (2022), a key framework promoting responsible tourism grounded in heritage protection, community resilience, and sustainability.
The conversation explores how the Charter responds to contemporary challenges such as climate change and global instability, and how its principles can guide heritage and tourism professionals toward more equitable and sustainable practices. Drawing on experiences from the Philippines, Dr. Henares also reflects on how the Charter has been integrated into national tourism policies.
