An online conference titled NGOs’ Experiences and Reflections on ICH in Armed Conflicts was organized on April 7th.
The topic of the meeting remains highly relevant due to ongoing conflicts in various regions, resulting in the displacement of large populations both internally and externally. The presentations delivered during the event provided numerous current examples of how warfare and conflict can significantly impact intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and its bearers. Additionally, the potential role of ICH during armed conflicts was highlighted as both important and crucial. The webinar, which focused on the role of NGOs in safeguarding ICH during such circumstances, offered valuable practical insights and reflections.
The next phase involves the preparation of a #HeritageAlive publication, in collaboration with ICHCAP. This publication is scheduled for release at the General Assembly in 2026. Presenters from the conference are pre-qualified for inclusion, though additional contributions are welcome. Interested individuals are invited to submit an abstract as the first step in the process.
